Dodge Demon SRT: First Look
Some new muscle is emerging from America and If you know how to get your hands on it then you’re the envy of every rev head in Australia.
The new Dodge Demon is the fastest Production car 0-60 made to date. Yep, faster than McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Tesla and Bugatti. You can imagine the stir it's created amongst the elite supercar owners.
At a very reasonable cost of $85,000USD, compared to the millions spent on the fastest supercars, the Dodge Demon is the king of the quarter mile.
With a record time of 9.8 seconds the Demon leaves all in its wake. The only cars not to challenge the Demon and are still not yet to be seen, the Tesla Roadster and Bugatti Chiron and Chiron Sport.
Its breakneck launch speed comes thanks to an all new 808BHP at 717Ibft V8 Hemi and its ability to measure octane count in its injected fuel. The engine adjusts accordingly and with 100% octane, will reset its timing to make the most of the extra fuel to produce a staggering 840bhp and 770Ibft.
The body of the Demon has been criticised by the public eye for just being another Challenger with extra power. This is somewhat true, however Dodge reduced the cars weight by nearly 100kg.
When the car rolls off the production line, there’ll be a few reductions. You will first notice it only has 1 seat for the driver. These ‘extras’ are included in the Demons race ready chest. This extra package worth only $1 includes drag wheels and drag mods to prepare the demon for any drag off the lights… (although we don’t condone this, keep it on the track)
The Demon is actually banned from a lot of drag tracks around the US for being too quick. The car doesn’t have a quick top speed with only 168mph. This is largely due to its overly huge tyres.
The Dodge Demon come fitted with specific Nitto Demon printed drag radials which are compliant for completion. These huge unique 315/40R18 on 18”x11” lightweight alloys are designed OE for the Demon and contribute to the cars ability to launch from a standing start to a record breaking 1.8 G’s. Higher that a Bugatti Veyron.
