The All new Ford Ranger Raptor

In 2018, Ford is set to release the next chapter in its Ranger series and something tells us it’s one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Australians love their tough utility’s, from the Toyota Hilux and Holden Colorado, the Ford Ranger has been a hot contender for many years now.

This new combination of the Ranger and US Raptor brings a totally new and aggressive Sports utility to the Australian market. Featuring an all new 10 speed Bi-Turbo 157Kw engine with 500Nm of torque. There are a number of staggering technological advancements including Driver Assist Technology (DAT) and Terrain Management System (TMS) which allows you to excel in a variety of different terrains. With the push of a button the driver can switch between six different modes: Normal, Sport, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Sand, Rock and lastly the off-road inspired all new Baja Mode.

BFGoodrich All-Terrain tyres are OE standard to 285/70. A superb all-round tyre for on and off the road but mostly, the Raptor will attack any driving conditions you intend on throwing this truck in. The suspension on the new Raptor is an Australian first with legendary Fox Racing Shox as standard equipment. With Raptors race-bred suspension has been specifically crafted to tackle the toughest terrains.

The A/T tyres use Core Gard technology developed in the Baja T/A KR2 4WD tyre for split and bruise-resistant sidewall rubber. With a much thicker, extended shoulder to prevent sidewall failures. The tread design and rubber formulation helps the All-Terrain tyre last twice as long on gravel and 15% longer on bitumen than any other previous KO 4WD tyre. The new tread features are designed to have much better mud and snow traction.

The new Raptor set to be released in the 3rd quarter of 2018 and comes in at a hefty $80,000. The quintessential Aussie’s favourite ‘tradie ute’ is becoming slightly out of reach for some. Two other sports trucks released this year, the Holden Colorado Sports Cat at a cost of $60,000 and the top package with an automatic transmission costing $68,990. The Toyota Hilux will see a swagger of different styled models in 2018. From your standard SR, through to the SRX (4x4) coming in at around $58,440. Other models that could be released this year include the Rouge, Rugged, Rugged X and the Rocco.

Everything about the new Ranger Raptor embodies and builds on the already outstanding drivability and capability of the original Ranger and more! Built for driving enthusiasts’, the new Ranger Raptor is the ultimate sports truck for off-road fun as well as being tough enough to be put strait to work.
